2020 Landlords Tenants and COVID19

How will it affect your lease agreement?

This is new territory for most all players in the rental industry, there was very little warning globally for the impact on our lives, physically, mentally and financially. Planning and preparing for the pandemic was not an option.

Lawyers and courts are inundated with calls for legal opinion on how the Disaster Act affects rental agreements. Circumstances, lease agreements and financial considerations all play a role, and they're all different.

A first step should be to talk to your landlord or tenant, explain your situation, ( backing it up with proof ), and try to come to an agreement/arrangement that suits all parties concerned.

Legal templates are available or write up your own, please contact a property professional if you are unsure.
