Reasons to get a rental agreement in writing
Courts, Judges and Tribunals do not entertain; “he said, she said“ arguments, if there is no documented / verbal ( witnessed ) proof of an agreement, you're in trouble as a plaintiff.
A signed lease agreement and a signed property inspection report is essential.
Any further agreements regarding property leasing and responsibilities must be in writing. Whether the landlord wants to inspect / improve or maintain the property or the tenant wants to install a light fitting.
If you have a verbal agreement regarding any work, improvements or changes to the property, both landlord and tenant should please reduce it to writing.
This applies to all aspects of your legal lease “marriage”, divorces can be expensive and only the lawyers win.
